Rafiq Karimi, Jr. Chief Executive Officer
Rafiq is our CEO. He co-founded CD One Price Cleaners with his brother Rafiq Karimi, Senior. Mr. Karimi began his entrepreneurial career in the dry cleaning industry nearly 30 years ago. In 2001, he opened the first Cleaners Depot (the origination of the “CD” in our current name) business in the Chicago market. An article in the Chicago Sun-Times noted that he has “revolutionized the dry cleaning business in the Chicago area” with the introduction of the one-price dry cleaning concept. In 2006, recognizing the customer’s need for personal service and the challenges of expanding a company-owned operation, he decided to introduce the CD One Price Cleaners franchise program. With headquarters in Westchester, IL, Mr. Karimi leads an executive team that manages each functional area of the organization including finance, store operations, franchise development, real estate and construction and marketing.
Mike Corrao CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mike has been our Chief Operating Officer since April 2005. He is an expert in franchising strategy, franchise development and franchisee relations, having been involved in the field of franchising for more than 35 years in various operational and consulting roles. For 10 of those years he served as President and CEO of Gingiss Formalwear, which was a men’s specialty retailer with more than 430 stores in 33 states. He has served as a Director on a number of for-profit and not-for-profit company Boards, including serving as Chairman of the Board for the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois. While Mike’s primary focus includes the various functions related to real estate, as Chief Operating Officer he is also a part of the executive team involved in the strategic operations and management of the company. Mike has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, where he was later a member of the Board of Executive Advisors for the College of Business and was honored to receive the Executive in Residence Award for Northern Illinois University’s MBA Program.
STEVEN J. SKONECKE VICE PRESIDENT OF STORE OPERATIONS
Steve has been our Vice President of Store Operations since 2008. Steve has an extensive background in operations and team management and has held a variety of unit, district and regional leadership positions with a number of organizations including Bakers Square, Steak & Ale and Montana Steak House. From 1994-1997, Steve had full national and international responsibility as President of the then-240-unit chain of Bennigan’s Restaurants. Steve is responsible for guiding a team of Field Consultants and Regional Managers who are charged with overseeing all franchise and company-owned stores in the CD One Price Cleaners system. As the former owner of his own independent business, Steve understands the many challenges of small business ownership.
TODD SHANKLAND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Todd has been our Chief Financial Officer since May 2005. Todd’s primary role is to lead and manage the finance, accounting and store support functions for the company. Prior to joining the company, Todd worked for The ServiceMaster Company, an international franchise organization, from July 2000 until May 2005, most recently serving as Vice President and Group CFO of the Strategic Services Group. Todd began his career in public accounting, and then held various progressive accounting roles in the retail and restaurant industries. Todd has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana.
TOM RYAN VICE PRESIDENT OF FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT
Tom has been our Vice President of Franchise Development since 2006. He has been involved in the field of franchising as a consultant and store development executive around Chicago for more than 25 years. Prior to joining CD One Price Cleaners, Tom held similar positions with the 430-unit Gingiss Formalwear as its VP of Franchising and with Big Apple Bagels as its Director of Franchise Development. Prior to that, Tom was a senior consultant for a leading franchise consulting firm that provides strategic planning, marketing, and operational guidance to new franchise companies. Tom has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University in Midland, MI, and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago.
J. JOHN MOROCCO VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
John has more than 20 years of experience in franchise marketing with a number of established national brands, including Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin Robbins, Brunswick Zones, McDonald’s Corporation and Quiznos. John has extensive experience in all areas of multi-unit retail marketing, which has included leading corporate, field and agency teams on both the national and local levels during his career. John is responsible for brand communications and directing company and franchised store marketing for CD One Price Cleaners. John has a bachelor’s degree in marketing/economics and a masters in advertising from Northwestern University.
