Our Year in Review 2015
As 2015 comes to a close, we have a lot to look back on.
CD One Price Cleaners had an exciting 2015 with several new services being introduced and another successful year of fundraising campaigns.
We began the year by introducing the first of our services to extend outside of the closet: blanket and comforter cleaning. For under $20.00, we now clean any size blanket or comforter at most of our locations. Through this new service, we met a lot of great new customers, and we have been able to bring a more convenient and affordable option to our existing customers.
Soon after this, and after much preparation, we released our very first app, the Stain Slayer! This was a very exciting and ground-breaking step for CD One Price Cleaners. The Stain Slayer brings the professional advice of our experts into your home. The second you get a stain, tell the Stain Slayer the type of stain and fabric it is on, and it will respond with the best course of action to pre-treat the stain, along with directing you to your nearest CD One for professional treatment. It is available on the App Store and Google Play Store for free and we have been eagerly tracking it’s downloads since release!
While all of this excitement kept the first half of our year busy, we are never too busy for our fundraising and awareness campaigns. A large part of who we are at CD One Price Cleaners is focused on giving back. We want to make our customer’s lives easier, but we also believe in helping to shape our community and the world we live in.
Each year, we partner with several organizations to raise awareness and donations for their causes, the first of which in 2015 was The Cara Program. The Cara Program is a workforce and leadership development shop that prepares and inspires motivated individuals to break the cycles of homelessness and poverty. Their work transforms lives and strengthens communities in Chicagoland by giving these individuals the opportunity to secure permanent employment through a comprehensive range of job training, support, placement, and retention services. To assist with this amazing work, we asked our customers to donate their gently used interview attire, and they did not disappoint! The turnout of donated items was inspiring, and we are so thankful to have such a kind-hearted base of customers and community members. We cleaned the donated interview attire before delivering it to Cara where it was put to good use by those in need when searching for employment. Cara will be celebrating their 25th year in helping Chicago’s homeless in 2016 and we are very grateful to be a part of their incredible journey.
Our next campaign was for our 2015 Heroes of the Neighborhood program during which we partnered with Fisher House for the 2nd consecutive year. Fisher House provides a network of housing and support for families of service members and veterans who are receiving medical care. These homes provide families with a no-cost option to be near their loved-ones while they undergo treatment. We requested donations which went directly to Fisher House in Chicago and Minneapolis. In support of this cause and to show our thanks for those who protect us and our country, we also offered free cleanings for all U.S. flags and discounts for all U.S. military, city, and suburban fireman and policeman uniforms at our participating CD One locations.
As we entered October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with Susan G. Komen to raise donations and awareness to support local funding programs in Chicago and Minnesota-the home states of our store locations. This money has been used to make a difference in the
lives of breast cancer patients and their families by providing aid such as, free mammograms; free clinical breast exams; free diagnostics tests; free treatment; and of course, to support the advancement of medical science to find a cure. As breast cancer is such a common threat, this cause is important to us all.
The end of our year has been focused on keeping warm! We introduced another new service in stores; cleaning down jackets. For a very cozy price-under $5.00- you can get any down jacket or coat cleaned! We also promoted our Coats for Kids campaign for the 4th year in a row, collecting coats for The Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. Adult and children’s gently-used coats were donated, cleaned by CD One and readied for pickup by The Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, who provides them to underserved children and families to keep them warm during Chicago’s harsh winters. During the past 4 years that we have promoted our Coats for Kids campaign, our customers have donated thousands of coats for the local community. These donations never go unneeded, as over 200 new patients enroll monthly at The Infant Welfare Society.
On top of all of this, we just opened a new location in Broadview, Illinois at 2812 S 17th Ave Unit B. And we have begun rolling out our most exciting service yet- a clean and fold laundry service! It has been in the works at our Hopkins, Minnesota location, and just recently introduced to 4 of our Illinois locations. We are very excited to see where it goes in 2016 and will keep you updated on it as we finalize the process!
So, overall we had quite a busy year! As we move into 2016, we love to reflect on all of the blessings we have been given in the past, and to look forward to our future, which we think will be very bright thanks to our amazing customers!
